Christopher Farms Elementary third graders were hungry to learn, and library media specialist Maria Lamb knew just the morning treat they needed.
She created a sweet “Dunkin’ Into Books” tasting menu for students to explore different genres and find a book that whets their appetite. Groups rotated tables every five minutes to dig into donut boxes filled by genre, from mystery to realistic fiction to adventure books.
Students took little “bites” of the cover and the back of the book to decide if they would want more. In the end, they rated the books by how likely they were to check them out. There were several five-donut ratings!
