Niche.com completed its annual Top 100 list for middle and high schools across the state. Virginia Beach was featured predominantly on both lists, with seven high schools making the list for Top Public High Schools and four middle schools making the Top Public Middle Schools list.
On the Top Public High School list, Ocean Lakes High School broke the Top 10, and was ranked ninth in the state. The following schools were also featured:
- Princess Anne High School, ranked 16th
- Cox High School, ranked 49th
- Salem High School, ranked 57th
- Landstown High School, ranked 64th
- Kellam High School, ranked 89th
- First Colonial High School, ranked 97th
From the Top Public Middle School list, the following four middle schools were selected:
- Great Neck Middle School, ranked 51st
- Princess Anne Middle School, ranked 68th
- *Kemps Landing Magnet School, ranked 73rd
- Kempsville Middle School, ranked 99th
