This year, four VBCPS high schools earned the 2017-18 Claudia Dodson VHSL Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award, which, according to the Virginia High School League (VHSL), recognizes member schools that have established policies and procedures that make sportsmanship a priority and an expectation within the school and school community.<\/p>\n
First Colonial, Landstown, Ocean Lakes and Salem high schools were all recipients this year. Only 24 high schools in the entire Commonwealth of Virginia earned this honor, meaning 1 out of every 6 awards given were from right here in Virginia Beach.<\/p>\n
To qualify for the awards, schools must provide the VHSL a self-reflection on its practices, a peer review and three peer recommendations.
