{"id":6872,"date":"2017-07-23T14:59:22","date_gmt":"2017-07-23T18:59:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/?p=6872"},"modified":"2017-08-07T08:33:28","modified_gmt":"2017-08-07T12:33:28","slug":"board-education-host-public-hearing-state-accreditation-virginia-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/board-education-host-public-hearing-state-accreditation-virginia-beach\/","title":{"rendered":"Board of Education to host public hearing on state accreditation in Virginia Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Virginia Board of Education will hold a public hearing on state accreditation standards Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m. The public hearing will take place at Old Donation School (4633 Honeygrove Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia, 23455).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6873\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/VDOE.color_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"879\" height=\"591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/VDOE.color_.jpg 879w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/VDOE.color_-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/VDOE.color_-768x516.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/VDOE.color_-400x269.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 879px) 100vw, 879px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Virginia Beach hearing is one in a series of five the Board is holding to get family, educator and community input on student expectations, how schools are accredited, and the conditions and needs of public schools.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the Board is looking for feedback in the following areas of accreditation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Standards of Accreditation including changes to high school graduation requirements and changes to how schools will be accredited in the future<\/li>\n<li>The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) State Plan<\/li>\n<li>Identifying conditions and needs of public education, for updating the Board\u2019s comprehensive plan and annual report to the Governor and General Assembly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To help guide the conversation and for more detailed information, those interested in attending can download handouts on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doe.virginia.gov\/boe\/meetings\/vboe-public-hearing-handouts.pdf\">Standards of Accreditation, Profile of a Virginia Graduate and the ESSA State Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is asked that those who plan on attending RSVP to Director for Board Relations Emily Webb at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Emily.Webb@doe.virginia.gov\">Emily.Webb@doe.virginia.gov<\/a>.
