While many are eager\u00a0to leave their classrooms behind for vacation, Christina Clark\u2019s third graders can\u2019t wait to get to their desks at King\u2019s Grant Elementary.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, there\u2019s one desk they want \u2013 the VIP, or Very Important Person, table.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6755\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1366\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2.jpg 1366w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/VIP-table-2-400x225.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Determined to \u201cend the year with a bang,\u201d as a bulletin board in the classroom states,\u00a0Clark reveals the student VIP daily in dramatic fashion. Each student\u2019s name was placed in an inflated balloon pinned to the bulletin board. Clark pops one each day with scissors to identify the VIP.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6756\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1366\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board.jpg 1366w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Bulletin-Board-400x225.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were asking earlier if the girls had pink balloons and the boys had green ones,\u201d Clark said. \u201cThat\u2019s not necessarily true because we popped a green one today and Kylie\u2019s our VIP. So, it\u2019s a surprise. As the VIP, they get special privileges for the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Privileges like a decorated VIP desk, a prominent seat in the front of the classroom, a yoga ball for a\u00a0chair, use of colorful pens and markers, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Just in case their is any question, the\u00a0student VIP wears a badge with the message: \u201cExclusive permission to special privileges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>News of the daily VIP selection is also shared with the school on the classroom door.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier in the year I took their picture and put it on the wall, and when they become the VIP for the day, we take their picture down and we put it out on the door,\u201d Clark explained.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6757\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1366\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos.jpg 1366w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Be-photos-400x225.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eight VIPs had been selected as of June 1, leaving nine more \u201cVery Important People\u201d to be recognized\u00a0during the last two weeks of school.<\/p>\n<p>Who led the way?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis guy,\u201d proudly announced Zakai Lawrence, the first VIP, pointing his thumbs at his chest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou get all this cool stuff. You get the iPad. You get the pens and stuff. There is a little Kid President button that you can press and you get to sit on a yoga ball. We can do it.<\/em> \u201cWe <em>will<\/em> do it. It\u2019s too important for us <em>not<\/em> to do it,\u201d chant the third graders to finish the statement with Kid President.<\/p>\n<p>The next one seems to be their favorite. They emphasize each word as it plays aloud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe! More! Awesome!\u201d they exclaim. Everything will be in purple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former VIP Lucas Long had his favorites, too. \u201cI liked the yoga ball. I liked bouncing on it. I also liked the twitter feed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark explained, \u201cWhen they get the iPad, one of the things that they are in charge of is our classroom Twitter account.
