She\u2019s the 2014 valedictorian for Bayside High School.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> Accepted to a good college? She\u2019s Ivy League bound this fall.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> Accolades? There are too many to choose from. However, just last month, she, along with six other VBCPS students, was named a Gates Millennium Scholar, earning her a full scholarship for her undergraduate work.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Bayside graduate has added another\u00a0accolade to her list of accomplishments: Undergraduate Student Government (USG) president at Princeton University.<\/p>\n<p>According to an\u00a0article published this school year in <em>The Daily Princetonian<\/em>, \u201cJemison will be the University\u2019s first Black female USG president.<\/p>\n<p>The article continued, \u201cIt\u2019s a victory that is both well-deserved and exciting, according to Jemison\u2019s friends and University faculty members, who say that the leadership and skills she\u2019s developed throughout her life prepared her for this role.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6287\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6287\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4466_myeshajemison_carlafieldscenter_courtesyoff.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6287\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4466_myeshajemison_carlafieldscenter_courtesyoff.jpg\" alt=\"Photo credit: The Daily Princetonian\" width=\"750\" height=\"501\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4466_myeshajemison_carlafieldscenter_courtesyoff.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4466_myeshajemison_carlafieldscenter_courtesyoff-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4466_myeshajemison_carlafieldscenter_courtesyoff-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6287\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo credit: The Daily Princetonian<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The college publication quoted Jemison as crediting her AP History teacher at Bayside High for encouraging her to apply to schools most of her classmates were not applying to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciated that I had a teacher who saw potential in me. For a teacher to push you on what you\u2019re thinking of for your college goals was really great,\u201d Jemison said.<\/p>\n<p>The 2014 Compass Keeper profile quoted Terry Mejia, Health Sciences Academy coordinator, who spoke of how Myesha was making a difference in the lives of others as a high school student.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMyesha is a beautiful young lady inside and out,\u201d said Mejia. \u201cShe actively seeks for ways to improve the lives of others; always considering everyone\u2019s best interests\u2026Her selflessness and compassion allow her to see the beauty in all of her peers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It sounds as though Jemison is equally committed to working to make a difference in the lives of her Princeton peers as SGA president.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Princetonian<\/em> article included the following quote from the Bayside graduate: \u201cSomething that I hope came across in my platform was that the things I was advocating for were things that I wanted out of Princeton, but were more so things that students have repeatedly said they want out of the University.
