The publication&#8217;s staff reviews more than 29,000 high schools across the country in order to put together the annual listing.<\/p>\n<p>Ocean Lakes was awarded a silver medal from U.S. News &amp; World Report, and was ranked 31<sup>st<\/sup> in the state of Virginia. OLHS also was ranked 1,304<sup>th<\/sup> best high school in the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to U.S. News &amp; World Report, in order to be considered, math and reading proficiency scores from the school are compared to the statewide results and all of a school\u2019s students have to perform \u201cbetter than statistically expected for students in their state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, schools\u2019 performance on college-level tests, including Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) were measured to find the schools with the best achievement for the highest percentage of students.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Ocean Lakes!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ocean Lakes High School (OLHS) earned placement on U.S. News &amp; World Report\u2019s \u201cBest High Schools\u201d List.
