<\/a>Carpentry students are among the dozens of Technical and Career Education (TCE) Center students from various career strands who are constructing a single-family home with the help of their TCE instructors and other professionals in the community.<\/p>\nWhen completed, the house located at 1909 Evar Place will be sold with all proceeds benefiting the Virginia Beach Education Foundation (VBEF).\u00a0It is the 10th<\/sup> single-family dwelling TCE students have helped construct through the VBEF program The House Students Built.<\/p>\n Those involved with the project recently marked their calendars for June 8, the scheduled date for the house dedication.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, it will be ready,\u201d says Andrea Tomlin when asked if the house will be completed by then. \u201cIt has to be ready,\u201d she adds with a laugh.<\/p>\n \u201cYou see the carpentry students are preparing to build that fence,\u201d she says. \u201cMasonry students are working with Mr.\u00a0McDaniel on the second story. Donated cabinets are supposed to arrive soon, and the tile is complete.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou should take a look inside at the tile,\u201d Tomlin encourages. \u201cIt\u2019s beautiful, and it was all donated.\u201d<\/p>\n The tile is one of several in-kind donations that benefit the VBEF house project because they help defray construction expenses, thus increasing the net profit from the home\u2019s sale to support the Foundation\u2019s Adopt A+ Grants and other programs.<\/p>\n<\/a>Tomlin, a TCE instructor and House Project site coordinator, points to all the activity around the site, including students clearing masonry debris and working on two-story scaffolding.<\/p>\n
