The works of art were created in response to Vic Muniz\u2019s \u201cWasteland\u201d documentary and utilized recyclable materials and trash to create awareness of sustainability of earth\u2019s resources.<\/p>\n<p>These innovative works were created by Green Run Collegiate, Bayside, Tallwood and Green Run High School students.<\/p>\n<p>Before students completed their pieces, they studied Muniz\u2019s work as an exploration of the concepts of sustainability and awareness as he created beautiful portraits from trash dumps in Brazil. Bayside High, Green Run Collegiate and Tallwood High students came together at the Museum of Contemporary Art to study\u00a0 Muniz\u2019s exhibition, Skype with his creative team in New York City and begin the collaboration project on creating an outdoor sculpture inspired by Muniz\u2019s process.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit was hosted by Old Dominion University in Partnership with Virginia Beach City
