Grade levels focused on different movie themes.<\/p>\n<p>All were on display.<\/p>\n<p>Second grade teacher Kristin Sheely said students couldn\u2019t wait to show off their masterpieces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were so excited to bring their families,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-K and kindergarten\u2019s movie was \u201cPeter Pan,\u201d while first graders\u2019 work portrayed \u201cCinderella.\u201d\u00a0 Second and third graders\u2019 artwork was based on \u201cHow to Train Your Dragon\u201d and fourth and fifth graders paid homage to \u201cAlice in Wonderland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The movies came to life in the hallways. Artists and their families strolled through the show and snapped photos. The girls excitedly explained how they made the bright yellow stars with rolling pins and cookie cutters.<\/p>\n<p>Andreea Catana came as \u201cAlice.\u201d The fourth grader said she enjoyed the \u201cAlice in Wonderland\u201d art projects, including making a tiny 3D room and furniture out of paper, a teacup from clay and a vortex hue painting of spiraling colors of pink, black and white. \u201cAlice falls through a tunnel,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n<p>In the &#8220;Cinderella&#8221; hall, Kara Cowan and her daughter Abigail received small plastic \u201cglass\u201d slippers as souvenirs. Students should be proud of their uniqueness and creativity, she noted.<\/p>\n<p>She said her inspiration came from her parents, both educators, and a former teacher, who once held a similar art show event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to make art fun,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Principal Sara Mendez applauded McKibben\u2019s creative vision and said art is a vital part of learning. \u201cIt\u2019s important for kids to be well-rounded,\u201d she said. \u201cThey should feel proud of their work artistically and academically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everyone was a winner.
