As part of the Great Kindness Challenge, Lynnhaven Elementary school counselor Shanice Williams made an \u201cActs of Kindness\u201d tree.<\/p>\n

Staff and students write on a paper heart how someone was kind to them or an act of kindness they witnessed.<\/p>\n

The school has a four-house system where all staff and students are sorted into a house. Williams takes the hearts and puts the house color associated with the student who was caught being kind behind the note written about them.<\/p>\n

The kindness tree grows and blooms.<\/p>\n

Geri Scherck<\/em><\/a> is an instructional technology specialist and school media liaison at Lynnhaven Elementary.<\/em><\/p>\n

La\u2019Monte Mitchell (first grade) was caught being kind and smiling at other students in the hallway by Mrs. Mary Jane Cowen (office associate). When a staff member told him that he was \u201ccaught\u201d and had a heart, he got the biggest smile on his face. He said, \u201cCan you send a picture to my mom? She is going to be proud of me!\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
