FLAVA advocates for world language education and promotes online opportunities to educate the public about the benefits and issues related to language learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled that Srta. Julia Inglesby is being recognized by FLAVA for her extraordinary work as a dual language educator,\u201d said Principal Charlene Garran. (\u201cSrta.\u201d is the abbreviation for senorita in Spanish.) \u00a0\u201cInglesby has a natural talent to teach Spanish and is always ready to support other fellow DLI educators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An alumna of Princess Anne\u2019s IB program, Inglesby learned Spanish in the classrooms of our schools and she is so excited that she \u201cgets to help pass along that gift to other students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inglesby quickly found her passion for the profession, love for teaching in Spanish, and the power of dual languages. Her presentation, \u201cNumber Talks in a Dual Language Setting,\u201d won her an award based on feedback from peer attendees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNumber talks are a great way to help your child grasp mathematics in both languages,\u201d Inglesby said.<\/p>\n<p>FLAVA granted Inglesby a $1,000 scholarship to attend the Northeast Conference of Teaching Foreign Language (NECTFL) in New York City in<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #339900; outline: 0px;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_6852.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10588 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_6852-e1670352623565-254x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"254\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_6852-e1670352623565-254x300.jpg 254w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_6852-e1670352623565-768x908.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_6852-e1670352623565-400x473.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_6852-e1670352623565.jpg 826w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>March 2023.\u00a0Ahead of NECTFL, Inglesby said, she will be reviewing the presentation and making changes based on the recent feedback she received from fellow attendees at the fall conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI use the instructional routine that forms the basis of my presentation daily in my classroom, so I will continue to update the presentation based on my experiences with my students,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The division\u2019s DLI program is implemented across five elementary and two middle schools. Approximately 600 students are enrolled in the elementary grades and roughly 160 students in the middle school grades<em>.<\/em> During the school year 2021, Bayside Elementary and Cooke Elementary began implementing the DLI program in grades K-1.
