Saturday, the campus of Princess Anne High School will be taken over by more than 400 volunteers taking part in the third annual Extreme School Makeover. However, among the hundreds who will be at school that day, one will be on everyone’s mind.
During the day’s lunch break, volunteers from Wave City Care, a non-profit organization, will present a donation to the Princess Anne Scholarship Fund to recognize the contributions of teacher Kathy Carlson, who passed away last school year. Carlson was an English teacher at the school.
While paying homage to Carlson’s dedication to the school, volunteers will also give the building some needed attention. During the day, volunteers will complete several beautification projects, including outside landscape work, painting throughout the building and the installation of new signage outside the entrance to the stadium as well as new countertops in the school’s dressing rooms. In addition, art students will work with local artists to sketch and paint several Cavalier murals on the inside and outside of the building.
