VISTA gives VB teachers a new view on science

Over the summer, a group of Virginia Beach teachers were selected to take part in the Virginia Initiative for Science Teaching and Achievement (VISTA) program. For Virginia Beach staff, that meant taking part in a four-week Elementary Science Institute held at the College of William & Mary.

Irene Sclafani and Corinne Wolfe-Cornwell from Windsor Oaks Elementary; Jane Steyne, Debbie Arnold and Patricia Simmons from Salem Elementary; and Danielle Williams and Vickie Reid from Lynnhaven Elementary School all took part.

From learning new, hands-on lab experiments and techniques to hearing innovative practices in teaching science curriculum, the teachers had their hands (and minds) full.
