Today, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) unveiled its Be Social. Be Smart. Be Safe. webpage on www.vbschools.com. This interactive page provides information and insight for students and parents regarding responsible social media use. In December, VBCPS launched the Be Social. Be Smart. Be Safe. awareness campaign to help students and families understand what it means to be a responsible digital citizen.
“As a division, we are committed to preparing our students for success, both in the classroom and out. In today’s age of technology and online activity, we have to have open and continued conversations about digital citizenship and maintaining a positive digital footprint,” VBCPS Superintendent Aaron Spence said. “We hope this new site will help reinforce the message to our students and families that we want you to actively engage with technology, but do so intelligently and safely.”
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the new page – complete with a parent question and answer section as well as PSAs from Spence, Chief of Police Jim Cervera and Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle – at www.vbschools.com/BeSocial.
