Dr. Aaron Spence announced the five finalists for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ Citywide Teacher of the Year today in an email to all staff. These finalists have been selected from all of the individual schools’ teachers of the year. The 2016 Citywide Teacher of the Year finalists are as follows:
- Gabrielle Hurst, Gifted Resource Teacher– Malibu Elementary
- Sheena Smith, Computer Resource Specialist – Bayside 6thGrade Campus
- Robert Wnukowski, 8thGrade Social Studies – Kempsville Middle
- Bradley Ward, 5thGrade Teacher – Rosemont Forest Elementary
- Tasha Hurst, 11thGrade English Teacher – Ocean Lakes High School
Members of the Citywide Teacher of the Year Selection Committee have been interviewing each of the finalists over the last few weeks. Once their selection is made, the committee’s decision will be announced during a surprise visit to the 2016 Citywide Teacher of the Year’s classroom.
