The Entrepreneurship and Business Academy (EBA) at Kempsville High School celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 6, the first day of the new school year. The academy’s first class of ninth-grade students were introduced to parents, community members and Kempsville staff members in the audience.
“I know I speak for my fellow classmates when I say that we have been looking forward to today for quite a while,” said ninth-grader Vitali Rivera, who served as the student host for the event. “And, I know we are all excited for the journey that lies ahead of us here at Kempsville.”
Approved by the School Board in October 2015, the EBA offers students three strands of study: Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Business Information Technology and Corporate Finance. Students also have the opportunity to take specialized elective courses, participate in job shadowing, complete a senior internship, earn dual enrollment credit for college and seek an associate degree in business administration.
