On Saturday, Sept. 17, Linkhorn Park Elementary School student James Grunwald will be a star on the Times Square jumbotron in New York City.
A photo of him holding a book he wrote and illustrated as a first-grader last spring entitled, “I Can,” will appear in the National Down Syndrome Society’s (NDSS) annual Times Square video presentation. It was one of more than 400 photos selected from thousands of entries.
According to the NDSS, this annual video features photographs of children, teens and adults with Down syndrome, “reminding the world in a very big way about the contributions and milestones of people with Down syndrome.”
The video kicks off the New York City “Buddy Walk” in Central Park which was established in 1995 to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October.
Grunwald and his entire family will travel to New York City to participate in Saturday’s event.
