Harris, Reinen named to ASCD Future Leaders program

The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) selected 50 educators across the country to join its 2016 class of emerging leaders. Of these 50 educators, VBCPS had two staff members make the cut.

Salem Elementary School Assistant Principal Micah Harris and Professional Learning Specialist Bevin Reinen have been named to the Emerging Leaders program.

According to the ASCD, the Emerging Leaders program recognizes and prepares young, promising educators to influence education programs, policy and practice on both the local and national levels.

“This year’s group of emerging leaders are the education rock stars of tomorrow,” Ronn Nozoe, ASCD Associate Executive Director, said in a press release. “Each of these educators brings a special passion and commitment to ensuring all kids succeed. We look forward to learning from each of these extraordinary leaders and giving them a platform to increase the positive change they bring to the profession and to the lives of students.”

  1. Congratulations to Bevin and Micah! I echo the remarks of Ronn Nozoe and can attest to the expertise and leadership of Bevin Reinen. Bevin’s work this year as a professional learning specialist in the Office of Professional Growth and Innovation has been exemplary. Her leadership in the areas of new teacher induction, edchats, and mentoring has tangibly helped teachers meet demands, grow in their role, and expand their learning. I am very proud to count Bevin as a member of my team.
