Marion Broglie, a civics teacher at Lynnhaven Middle School, has been named to Gov. Bob McDonnell’s Governor’s Teaching Cabinet.

Broglie is one of 22 teachers selected from the state to serve on this cabinet – and one of only two teachers from the Hampton Roads region.

According to a Virginia Department of Education press release, the Cabinet it tasked with identifying additional resources, learning tools and professional development opportunities that the Department of Education could make available to local school divisions; recommending strategies for greater parent and community engagement; recommending strategies to improve the K-12 education, higher education and workforce collaboration; identifying any needed improvements to administrative responsibilities; and recommending strategies to close the achievement gap and assist disadvantaged students.
