Virginia Beach City Public Schools wants to help our students and families understand what it means to be a responsible digital citizen. To that end, we’re launching a new awareness campaign Be Social. Be Smart. Be Safe. We want students to be talking about digital citizenship in our schools and at home. The departments of Teaching and Learning, Technology and Media and Communications will share resources with staff and families through email and social media postings throughout the year. Be sure to “like” VBSchools on Facebook and follow @vbschools on Twitter and Instagram for timely information and tips. And, just as students return to school from winter break, we’ll launch a dedicated Be Social. Be Smart. Be Safe webpage on vbschools.com.
This week, a social media tip sheet was sent out through Alert Now email to all parents and staff. Teachers are encouraged to use this as a reference when talking to students about the use of technology and responsible social media use. Together, we can help all students Be Social. Be Smart. Be Safe.
