It’s a new era – a time of tweets, fans, follows, likes, pokes and shares. VBCPS understands that employees want to engage and embrace new technologies for their personal use. Unfortunately, though, one small mistake on your personal social media sites could have major repercussions in your professional lives.
In fact, recently local media has reported on some high-profile examples of individuals in other workplaces whose careers were adversely affected by poor social media choices. We want to help our employees avoid those kinds of mistakes. Consequently, the Departments of Human Resources, Media and Communications and Technology have worked together to create VBCPS Social Media Guidelines. These guidelines are to help advise your online activity, not dictate how you spend your personal time.
Print copies of these guidelines are being sent to administrators/supervisors for review and discussion. They are also available here.
If you have any questions about these guidelines, or the process used to develop them, let us know in the comment section.
