Great Neck named 2015 Blue Ribbon School

For the second time in two years, VBCPS has a National Blue Ribbon School.

Great Neck Middle School was one of just seven public schools in Virginia named a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The school, which  was nominated by the Virginia Department of Education, earned the honor by performing in the top 15 percent of all schools in Virginia in both reading and math.

In addition, all of the school’s student subgroups were in the top 40 percent of all schools for both reading and math.

Last year, Hermitage Elementary School was named a 2014 Blue Ribbon award winner.

“We are thrilled for the students, teachers, staff and administrative team at Great Neck Middle School,” said Dr. Aaron Spence, superintendent of Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS). “This is an extraordinary achievement, and it showcases the dedication of Great Neck’s staff to continually pursue academic excellence for every student in their building, every day.”
