This spring, the Department of Media and Communications held a readership survey – opening up the survey to staffs from the elementary, middle and high school level – in order to see how Kaleidoscope serves as a staff blog for employees.
While the majority of respondents reported they feel their school is represented enough in Kaleidoscope, the demand for coverage of division events, examples of innovative work/best practices from colleagues as well as breaking news were ranked as the top three qualities looked for in a staff publication.
Additionally, the survey showed that most respondents felt employees were not aware of the ways to suggest stories for Kaleidoscope. Marketing efforts for the School Media Liaison role within the schools are underway, and, as a reminder, staff members can always email Kaleidoscope editor, Lauren Nolasco, with story ideas.
