Renaissance Academy’s Ana Medina-Ruiz has been named the Technical and Career Education (TCE) Teacher of the Year. Medina-Ruiz, a culinary arts teacher at Renaissance, was nominated by a peer and supported by her administration and TCE staff. Specifically, Medina-Ruiz was praised for the work she has been doing with the Family and Consumer Sciences program at the Renaissance Academy.
Most recently, Medina-Ruiz worked with the Norfolk Department of Public Heath to integrate the Food Handler’s Card as part of her curriculum. She has also worked diligently to provide the students with more rigor and now includes the ServSafe curriculum as part of her Culinary Program.
