At Landstown Middle School, student teacher Madison Shaw was assigned to study under Deborah McKenna, where she would cut her teeth in the education profession working with seventh-graders at the school.
However, one of her greatest lessons was more about teamwork than homework.
During her time with the students, Shaw noticed that some would struggle to overcome a bad day – or even just a hard moment during the day. So, during the school’s Mentor Monday time, Shaw unveiled a new assignment.
She worked with students to create an encouragement board, which would be hung outside of her classroom, where anyone could grab a small sticky note for motivation during a challenging time. Each student created several sticky notes and attached them – some created quotes specifically to help their fellow students. Check out the final product below:
