VB teachers honored at Governor’s Modeling and Simulation Reception

Kellam High School’s Mark Clemente and Kempsville High School’s Bridget Mariano were honored at the Governor’s Modeling and Simulation Reception held last month in Suffolk, Va.

Clemente and Mariano co-authored a chapter in the Flexbook, “CK-12 Modeling and Simulation for High School Teachers: Principles, Problems, and Lesson Plans.” The Flexbook was a collaborative effort between NASA, CK-12 as well as participating authors from the modeling and simulation industry, universities and high schools. Clemente and Mariano co-authored a chapter in the Flexbook based on their experiences with teaching using modeling and simulation.

Since its release this August, the Flexbook has been recognized by the commonwealth of Virginia’s technology office in front of information technology leaders from Virginia during an awards ceremony in Richmond. The project was awarded a Special Recognition award in this year’s Governor’s Technology Awards.
