Reinen received the honor during a surprise visit to her classroom Wednesday morning by Virginia Beach City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence.

“We are proud to be able to deliver this news on behalf of the VDOE and to such an incredible instructor,” Spence said. “Bevin’s devotion to her students is well-known throughout the Three Oaks community as is her devotion to her craft. Bevin constantly researches best practices to help develop her students as learners, and we are happy to see her earn this well-deserved honor.”

The VDOE selected Reinen to represent Region 2, which consists of the school systems in Accomack, Isle of Wight, Northampton, Southampton and York counties as well as the cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. Reinen will now move on to compete for the title of Virginia 2015 Teacher of the Year, an honor which will be presented at an awards program Oct. 10 in Richmond.
