Earlier this month, Tallwood High School world languages teachers, Gisele Falls and Shawnda Hinton were presenters at the annual FLAVA (Foreign Language Association of Virginia) Conference in Williamsburg, Va. Falls’s workshop was based on strategies for keeping students motivated in the World Languages Classroom.

Falls taught others how to keep their students engaged and motivated, as well as improve student behavior and minimize the use of English in the World Languages classroom, resulting in more authentic and meaningful assessments. Hinton’s workshop was hands on and provided strategies for using Promethean Boards in the World Languages Classroom. She introduced participants to the ActiVote remote system as well as taught them how to create interactive flipcharts. Participants were provided with a CD of templates to use in their own classrooms.
