Panda-monium

Lenore Walker, an instructor at the Adult Learning Center, returned from a whirlwind trip to China, where she spent three weeks traveling around the country via an Overseas Adventure Travel tour.

The highlight of the trip came in Chengdu, where the group visited a panda sanctuary and Walker was able to hold a one-year-old panda bear. To keep the bear occupied, handlers would give him some bamboo or fruit or smear some honey on his paw.

Also on the trip, Walker walked the Great Wall of China (“I had to pinch myself that I was really there – on something built thousands of years ago”) and she was able to visit Tibet, where she tried eating yak for the first time (yak burger, yak milk soup and yak butter tea).

Not a bad way to spend some time!
