Environmentally friendly at Pembroke Elementary

Dr. Linda Hayes, principal of Pembroke Elementary School, and Assistant Principal Karen O’Meara attended a Principals Environmental Leadership Program in Tangier Island. At the event, they learned the basics of environmental education and how to use it to meet curricular objectives in a way that engages students. Both administrators also enjoyed hands-on learning activities on the Chesapeake Bay, and discussed how to implement a successful environmental education program at their school.

Tangier Watermen believe that if you kiss the Manhaden fish prior to baiting the crab pots, you will catch more crabs. Dr. Linda Hayes does her best to bring them in.
