Talk about a promotion!

Robin Davenport, principal of Creeds Elementary, will go from leading a school to leading more than 100,000 people – for a weekend at least. He has been named the Honorary Mayor of Pungo for the Strawberry Festival.

Davenport has been involved with and served on the Strawberry Festival board for
30 years, and has said he takes great pride in making sure that
things run smoothly and that everyone is having a great time each year. The festival, which is held on Memorial Day weekend, will have an estimated attendance of more than 120,000 over the course of the two day event.

Davenport will serve his position while wearing his strawberry attire and will be on hand to talk to guests about Pungo, its history and the great things offered out in the
country to visitors.
