For the past two days, the administrative teams from all Virginia Beach schools have come together for the 2014 Administrators’ Conference held at Larkspur Middle School.
Throughout their two days together, VBCPS administrators were privy to two keynote speakers: Superintendent Aaron Spence and Dr. Mike Schmoker.
Spence addressed the crowd Tuesday and outlined his goals for the upcoming year together. Specifically, Spence highlighted a number of priorities for all students in Virginia Beach schools, including that high expectations are made to clear to students in order to ensure that every student is reading on grade level and is mathematically proficient.

In addition, Dr. Mike Schmoker, author of the book, Focus, served as the keynote speaker for Monday’s session. Among other points, Schmoker emphasized the importance of increasing the amount of time students are reading and writing every day in our classrooms.

Dr. Ray Jones was also on hand as he gave several sessions for administrators on Tuesday titled “Coaching for Improvement: The Key to Better Teaching.” For more photos from the event, visit our Facebook page.
