Arrowhead Elementary School third graders Luca Munoz and Soulayman Yamoune took part in the beach ball relay during Field Day. Fairfield Elementary School’s PTA Luncheon was the icing on the cake. during Teacher Appreciation Week. Green Run High School’s rising senior and football player number 55, Brison Cole, gave some encouragement to Brookwood Elementary’s fourth grader De’andrick Gash before his SOL tests. Lily Enlow and Payton Warnock proudly display the banner from Fuel Up to Play60, which names Red Mill Elementary as a Touch Down School. Payton will also help represent the state of Virginia as a FUTP60 student ambassador in Cleveland, Ohio this summer. Glenwood Elementary School first graders had fun exploring Maker Space in the Library Learning Commons with Blue Bot, Dash Bot, and Keva Planks, and iPads. Newtown Elementary School students Brooklyn Tyler, Khaleah Spruill, Melichi Shadley and Elijah Artybridge get ready for Mothers Day. One of Morgyn Pearson’s favorite parts of Pembroke Elementary’s field day was the sand table. She was all smiles while working and playing with physical therapist Kasey Sabo Assistant Principal Laura Yoakam handed out lunches for teachers at White Oaks Elementary School in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. Cox High School Junior Will Jutton, here with English teacher Kyle Goodson, became an Eagle Scout. Rosemont Elementary second graders thanked the Rotary Readers by attending their monthly meeting and reading them poems. Andrea Balsly, Rosemont’s reading specialist, accompanied them to the breakfast meeting at the Holiday Inn. Princess Anne Middle School held its annual career fair. Corey McGinnis, eight grade counselor, did an amazing job preparing for this event with a multitude of local businesses and occupations represented. VB Middle School’s SAC and Office Manager served up sweet treats for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. A kindergarten class at Brookwood Elementary School voted for the best teacher. Arrowhead Elementary School first graders Clayton Pope, Payton Boorsma, and Juliyana Hollenbach built a tower that the monkeys could climb. Nina Chadwick, Megan Allen, Tennille Bowser, Javion Hinmon, Michelle McKinney, and Lizzie Brooks from Lynnhaven Middle School showed off their VBCPS shades. Pembroke Elementary School second grader Layla Sawicki enjoyed the trip to the YMCA FT’s Camp Grom. Princess Anne Elementary second grade teacher, Christina Kernutt, enjoyed the yummy festivities prepared by the school’s PTA to honor teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Bayside High School’s chorus sang at a Tides game in Norfolk. Linkhorn Park Elementary School fifth graders 5th graders used Quiver Vision to help bring plant and animal cells “to life” through 3D augmented reality. Fairfield Elementary School held its annual Science showcase, where students used the scientific method to explore real world questions by creating and presenting experiments. Glenwood Elementary School fourth grader Thomas Brogden III scored the most points WORLDWIDE on Achieve 3000, a digital program that provides nonfiction reading passages and writing exeriences tailored to students’ reading levels. Tallwood Elementary School staff showed of the VBCPS shades. Linkhorn Elementary School fourth graders recreated Jamestown settlement in Minecraft EDU. Landscape Architect Nancy Rodrigue and Graphic Design & Photographer Amanda Cross of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) recently visited Cox High School’s newest addition, the Wing. Mr. “D,” a science teacher at Kempsville Middle School, was riding to work the other morning when he had to take a small detour and rescue two stray pups that were running around in the middle of the street.
