VBCPS staff and parent earn Virginia Association for the Gifted awards

The Virginia Association for the Gifted offers annual opportunities to award and recognize excellence among teachers, students, administrators and parents.

Four individuals representing Virginia Beach City Public Schools earned Virginia Association for the Gifted Awards for the 2017-2018 school year.

Congratulations to the following recipients of 2018 Virginia Association of the Gifted Awards:

  • 2018 Leader of the Year: Dr. Veleka Gatling, Office of Programs for Exceptional Children
  • 2018 Outstanding Teacher of the Gifted for Region II: Jamie LaCava-Owen, Princess Anne High School
  • 2018 Outstanding Middle/High Student of the Year: Cameryn Conger, Old Donation School
  • 2018 Virginia Gifted Parent of the Year: Anna Feliberti

Award winners will be recognized at the association’s fall conference in October.
