New books added to Virtual Reference Library

If you’re looking for new professional reading material or book to support your work, try the school division’s Virtual Reference Library (VRL).

Offered by the Office of Professional Growth and Innovation, this online library is a collection of 518 full-length professional books on a variety of topics relevant to educators. An exciting new addition this fall is “The Innovator’s Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent and Lead a Culture of Creativity,” which was highlighted at this year’s Administrator’s Conference.

Other new books recently added include “Kids Deserve It! Pushing Boundaries and Challenging Conventional Thinking;” “The Zen Teacher: Creating Focus, Simplicity and Tranquility in the Classroom;” “50 Things You Can Do with Google Classroom;” and “Learn Like a Pirate: Empower Your Students to Collaborate, Lead and Succeed.”

Books can be read online or downloaded as an audio file. Individual chapters are also available as PDFs, which make them ideal for professional learning or individual research.

The Virtual Reference Library can be accessed through the Applications or Professional Learning tabs on the school division’s intranet at www. The landing page contains directions, tutorials, topical book lists, and direct links to the most accessed books.

Happy reading!
