Ana Cingel, secondary science coordinator in the Department of Teaching and Learning, is among 46 education professionals selected by ASCD for its 2017 class of Emerging Leaders.
According to an ASCD news release, “the Emerging Leaders program recognizes and prepares young, promising educators to influence education programs, policy and practice on both the local and national levels.” Selected leaders have been in the education profession for five to 15 years, hold promise as leaders and demonstrate a passion for learning, teaching and leading.
The organization’s announcement June 27 also noted that the 2017 cohort includes superintendents, principals, assistant principals, teachers, literacy coaches and professional learning specialists, and is one of the most geographically diverse in the history of the program with emerging leaders from 23 states, China, Colombia, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, and Pakistan.
As an emerging leader, Cingel will be invited to ASCD’s Leader to Leader conference in July and will participate in a two-year program that provides opportunities to help shape education policy, explore ASCD leadership pathways, present at conferences, write for publications and network with other education professionals.
