Brandon Middle School has collected school supplies over time from various organizations and churches to share with students who may need extra materials. Rather than wait for students to return to school to provide supplies, Brandon staff members went into the community Friday, Aug. 26, to deliver supplies.
They visited Brookwood Apartments to provide bags, notebooks, paper and other essential back-to-school supplies.
“This was our first time doing this and we hope to make it an annual event,” said principal Christy McQueeney. “This is our way to show our students and families that we are ready for them to come back to us this year.”
McQueeney added, “We have done so many things to impact our global community, but we also want to provide support to our neighborhoods that we serve. We often ask our students to serve so we need to model that as well.”
