{"id":9181,"date":"2019-06-19T18:55:10","date_gmt":"2019-06-19T22:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/?p=9181"},"modified":"2019-09-04T11:19:43","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T15:19:43","slug":"celebrating-vbcps-retirees-and-their-years-of-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/celebrating-vbcps-retirees-and-their-years-of-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating VBCPS retirees and their years of service."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) held a retirement celebration Tuesday, June 18, for more than 300 employees retiring from the school division this school year.<\/p>\n<p>Retirees with more than 40 years with the division were called forward individually to receive a small gift and be personally thanked by School Board members, Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence and school division leaders.<\/p>\n<p>This year, a record number of seven married couples with 451 years of service altogether retired from the division. Five of them were recognized at the ceremony.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shirley and Earl Harper, 52 years of combined service;<\/li>\n<li>Tracy and Mark Clementi, 53 years of combined service;<\/li>\n<li>Kimball and Bruce Harrison, 67 years of combined service;<\/li>\n<li>Jacqueline and Kenneth Cornick, 82 years of combined service; and<\/li>\n<li>Delena and Kenneth Poe, 83 years of combined service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This year\u2019s 344 retirees listed below have a cumulative 8,271 years of dedicated service to the division.
