{"id":8239,"date":"2018-10-08T08:27:01","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T12:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/?p=8239"},"modified":"2018-11-05T16:02:43","modified_gmt":"2018-11-05T21:02:43","slug":"vbcps-celebrates-its-national-board-certified-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/vbcps-celebrates-its-national-board-certified-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"VBCPS celebrates its National Board Certified Teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has 144 National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) \u2013 making it the fourth highest in Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, VBCPS has the second highest number of candidates in the Commonwealth currently working on their certification.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, this certification is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education. Created by teachers for teachers, National Board Certification is a voluntary certification system based on high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. It takes anywhere from three to five years to complete.
