Attendees are encouraged to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbschools.com\/hr\/\">register online<\/a> in advance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/CareerExpo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7624 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/CareerExpo.jpg\" alt=\"alt=&quot;&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/CareerExpo.jpg 650w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/CareerExpo-300x162.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/CareerExpo-400x215.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Administrators from all school levels \u2013 elementary, middle and high \u2013 will be onsite to discuss instructional positions available. Central office administrators also will be present to discuss employment opportunities that include, but are not limited to: cafeteria staff, custodians, bus drivers, security staff, and substitute teachers as well as positions in a variety of skilled trades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll also have information about summer school employment,\u201d said Anne Glenn-Zeljeznjak, coordinator of recruitment and retention for VBCPS. \u201cThere, our focus is instructional staff: special education teachers, middle school teachers and high school teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though there are job opportunities across all school levels and departments, Glenn-Zeljeznjak noted several high-need areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special education teachers<\/li>\n<li>Technology education teachers (<em>engineering, photography, construction technology, drafting, power and transportation, electronics systems, etc.<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>World languages teachers (<em>especially elementary-certified teachers who are fluent in Spanish for the division\u2019s partial immersion program<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Math teachers<\/li>\n<li>Science teachers (<em>chemistry, physics, earth science<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Bus drivers and substitute drivers<\/li>\n<li>Drivers education instructors<\/li>\n<li>Security assistants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Glenn-Zeljeznjak encourages Career Expo attendees to bring multiple copies of their resume or other pertinent documents that support their qualification for the particular job(s) they are seeking. They can share their information with administrators, who serve as the hiring managers for their respective schools or departments.<\/p>\n<p>Licensure staff also will be at the Career Expo to help answer questions about reciprocity and obtaining a teaching license in Virginia. Additional staff will be onsite to provide online application assistance and information about compensation, benefits and substitute opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re always looking for really great, solid substitutes,\u201d said Glenn-Zeljeznjak. \u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful opportunity to have a part-time job if you\u2019re already licensed and are transferring to the area as a military spouse or otherwise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The application and hiring process for substitutes will be one of three 20-minute information sessions offered throughout day. Other sessions include an overview of the school division\u2019s application and hiring process for all prospective employees and one for those interested in principal or assistant principal positions. A schedule for information sessions will be available at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Expecting a large crowd, Glenn-Zeljeznjak shared two final notes about the Career Expo. \u201cAttendees don\u2019t have to be there for the entire event.
