He had to keep quiet until after his appearance on the game show \u201cWho Wants to be a Millionaire\u201d which aired Wednesday, Feb. 7 during \u201cWhiz Kids\u201d week.<\/p>\n<p>The wait was long for Tyler\u2019s family and friends, who knew he taped the show in August. It was even more difficult for Tyler, because it was the first time he had to keep a secret.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/tylerfritzwhowantstobeamillionaire.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7341 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/tylerfritzwhowantstobeamillionaire.jpg\" alt=\"Landstown Student competes in Who Wants to Be A Millionaire\" width=\"864\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/tylerfritzwhowantstobeamillionaire.jpg 864w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/tylerfritzwhowantstobeamillionaire-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/tylerfritzwhowantstobeamillionaire-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/tylerfritzwhowantstobeamillionaire-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing more stressful than keeping something that exciting from your mom,\u201d said Tyler.<\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s rules state that contestants aren\u2019t allowed to share their results to anyone outside of the studio audience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s the only secret you\u2019re allowed to ever keep from your mother,&#8221; said Todd Fritz, Tyler&#8217;s father and Landstown Middle School guidance counselor.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the \u201cMost likely to be on Jeopardy\u201d award from Landstown\u2019s Academic Challenge Team is what sparked Tyler\u2019s desire to be on a game show. Once he qualified for the show, Tyler and his father began studying and practicing with a homemade \u201cMillionaire\u201d set with mock questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe tried to replicate the show as much as possible,\u201d said Todd.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler answered the first five questions correctly and locked in $5,000, then made it to the $10,000 question. \u201cIt was a math question,\u201d Tyler said. \u201cI lost on that one.\u201d However, he walked away with $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>With his winnings, Tyler plans to make a donation to Operation Smile, boost his college fund, and put some aside for something fun.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler said the experience gave him confidence. \u201cBefore, during and after I had a constant wave of support.
