For one year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has shared the perspectives, passions and viewpoints of its students, staff and volunteers on the interactive blog, \u201cWe Are VBSchools.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The blog, launched<\/a> April 7, 2016, includes\u00a0a new entry\u00a0every day\u00a0and has more than 365 stories to share. Each new post\u00a0is also shared nightly on the VBSchools Facebook page in its We Are VBSchools photo album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This Cooke Elementary School talent show participant was the first blog post<\/a>\u00a0shared. While the student waited for his turn to practice, he told a school division public relations coordinator she was \u201cunlucky and lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re unlucky because you just missed some great piano playing,\u201d he explained. \u201cYou\u2019re lucky because my hula hoop act is coming up. I used to be terrible at the hula hoop and now I\u2019m much better.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Bayside Middle School student<\/a> shared she is interested in attending\u00a0a VBCPS academy and getting scholarships. \u201cI want to make my parents very proud,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

At Corporate Landing Middle School, a teacher<\/a> shared why she considers herself to be \u201cone of the luckiest people in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think teaching is any longer my career; it\u2019s who I am\u2026I have the best job,\u201d she said. \u201cI have survived two cancers so every day is a second chance for me. I have amazing children. I have amazing grandchildren. I have a husband who has supported me all the way through everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

This Parkway Elementary School student<\/a> always gives hugs \u201cbecause it makes everyone happy! When you\u2019re kind, you a get a lot of good things.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Brookwood Elementary School fifth-grader teacher<\/a> shared how good things came her way when she was hired as a teacher at the school she attended as a young child. \u201cI got the phone call from HR saying I got the job at Brookwood. I was so excited and jumping up and down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jumping and being active is a priority for this Fairfield Elementary School student<\/a>. \u201cI like to be active and running around instead of being cooped up inside playing video games. Everyone stares at me like I\u2019m crazy. But, I like being crazy outside because I get to interact with people and have fun with them rather than play with online people.\u201d<\/p>\n

This Salem Elementary School student<\/a> expressed his appreciation for his grandmother keeping him on track. \u201cShe wants me to fulfill my dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Salem-ES-Malachi\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The principal at Linkhorn Park Elementary School<\/a> also wants all children to fulfill their dreams, especially the \u201cunderdogs.\u201d \u201cI just want everyone to see the glass half full versus half empty and believe in every child because they\u00a0can<\/em>\u00a0do it. They can do it. They can have it. They can make it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Linkhorn-Park-ES-Sessoms\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A Red Mill Elementary School custodian<\/a> shared a similar philosophy, noting that what motivates him \u201cis to make a difference in somebody\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\n

A student at College Park Elementary School<\/a> wants to be a teacher who inspires others to succeed, she just wasn\u2019t sure how to dress the part for career day. \u201cWell, I really didn\u2019t dress up. I just look regular because that\u2019s what teachers do and I want to be a teacher when I grow up. I look up to my teacher and I\u2019m always good to her, so I always think about being a teacher when I grow up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"College-Park-1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Supporting teachers and students daily are members of the School Plant team. Perhaps their secret to keeping our schools running so successfully is the running<\/a> they do after hours.\u00a0\u201cWhat I like to do on the side is run. I do a lot of running. I run races. I enjoy it because it keeps me healthy and it\u2019s just something I\u2019ve been doing for over 20 years. I belong to a couple clubs and it\u2019s just good social time and good events. I did a full marathon at the age of 50.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Electrical-Craftsman-III-Brian-Hulbert-4865\"<\/a><\/p>\n

26.2 miles and more are part of the\u00a0daily commute for this VBCPS bus driver<\/a>, who travels many miles each day to get students from home to school and back safely. \u201cI love being around the kids all day\u2026I feel like I’m driving our future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"KES_Sam_Horizontal_flag\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A Pembroke Meadows Elementary School student<\/a> is preparing for his future career as an author. He is writing his life story, one page of notebook paper at a time. \u201cI combine all those papers and just staple them\u2026But, if I have any other life adventures, I\u2019m going to make \u2018My Life Story: Part 2.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Pembroke-Meadows-ES-2nd-grader\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A First Colonial High School junior<\/a>\u00a0said that her life story will involve politics, despite her equal interest in science, technology, engineering and math. \u201cI like chemistry but honestly, it\u2019s one of those things where I feel like I have an obligation to go into politics. I think that after everything that I\u2019ve learned, at this point, I want to change something from here on out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"FCHS<\/a><\/p>\n

A Brookwood Elementary School student<\/a> wants to change the world, too. \u201cWe need more love in the world,\u201d she reflected.<\/p>\n
