This contest was open to high-schoolers in the region, and it tasked\u00a0students with creating videos that\u00a0showcase the perils of\u00a0driving while distracted. These distractions could include texting, talking on the phone, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5871\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Kellam.jpg\" alt=\"kellam\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Kellam.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Kellam-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Kellam-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Harwell and Newman&#8217;s video, &#8220;One Choice,&#8221; shows the hazards possible when a driver and passenger pay more attention to the activity on their phones than on the road.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DtZof6yPXvQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>More than 30 video entries were submitted to the contest. Judges narrowed the entries down to four semi-finalists, which were posted on the\u00a0campaign&#8217;s website. For three weeks, voting was open for visitors\u00a0to\u00a0select their favorite video entry. According to Cox Communications and Hall Automotive, more than\u00a040,000 online votes were cast, with Harwell and Newman&#8217;s video winning the most votes.<\/p>\n<p>For winning the contest,\u00a0Harwell and Newman won a $3,500 cash prize.
