{"id":5572,"date":"2016-09-20T17:42:44","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T21:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/?p=5572"},"modified":"2016-09-28T09:02:47","modified_gmt":"2016-09-28T13:02:47","slug":"landstown-senior-takes-home-first-place-national-design-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/landstown-senior-takes-home-first-place-national-design-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Landstown senior takes home first place in national design contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He didn&#8217;t win a trophy himself, but he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbschools.com\/press_releases\/prfy17\/011.html\">took home\u00a0top honors for designing one<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Landstown High School senior Matthew Gump won first place in the Association for Career and Technical Education\u2019s (ACTE) national Student Trophy Design Contest.\u00a0ACTE honors the work of teachers and administrators who work in the field of Career and Technical Education (CTE). To honor the\u00a0national ACTE Teachers of the Year, the ACTE Board of Directors put together a competition where students could submit designs of what the Teacher of the Year trophy should look like.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5574\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Matthew-Gump-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"matthew-gump\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Matthew-Gump-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Matthew-Gump-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Matthew-Gump-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Matthew-Gump-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Matthew-Gump.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In other words, it was a competition to design the best trophy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gump&#8217;s design beat out the other 75 submissions that came in from across the country. For winning, Gump was also awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
