{"id":5492,"date":"2016-08-15T17:51:11","date_gmt":"2016-08-15T21:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/?p=5492"},"modified":"2016-08-23T08:14:43","modified_gmt":"2016-08-23T12:14:43","slug":"entrepreneurship-business-academy-students-develop-plans-passions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/entrepreneurship-business-academy-students-develop-plans-passions\/","title":{"rendered":"Entrepreneurship and Business Academy students develop plans for their passions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One word.<\/p>\n<p>That is what rising ninth-graders in the new Entrepreneurship and Business Academy at Kempsville High School were asked to use to describe how they felt at the end of third day of the Envision Lead Grow program.<\/p>\n<p><em>Energized.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Encouraged. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Knowledgeable.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Accomplished.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Composed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Organized.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Impacted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Empowered.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The 20 female students also expressed feeling excited, grateful and reassured about the passion roadmaps they began that day. The graphic organizers were another step in their preparation for the program\u2019s culminating activity.<\/p>\n<p>Each student will pitch her business idea\u00a0to Envision Lead Grow\u2019s founder Angela Reddix, who is also CEO of ARDX, a Norfolk-based management consulting firm. In addition to having the opportunity to engage with and get feedback from local entrepreneurs, one student will win $500 for her presentation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5494\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/girls-build-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"girls build\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/girls-build-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/girls-build-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/girls-build-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/girls-build-400x267.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/girls-build.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to show you know what you\u2019re talking about and it\u2019s a vision worth buying,\u201d Anyssa Reddix, Angela\u2019s daughter,\u00a0told students. \u201cThe more you practice, the more comfortable you will feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She encouraged them to take their \u201cgrowth guides\u201d home to review overnight with the promise of more time to work tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Riana Conner wants to combine her passion for child care and athletics to open a facility similar to a YMCA.<\/p>\n<p>Leora Friedman wants to be a motivational speaker for children.<\/p>\n<p>Samantha Brophy and D\u2019Nya Davis are each interested in developing skincare products that include more natural and organic materials.<\/p>\n<p>Samantha Renaud wants to develop a clothing line that \u201cinspires girls and guys just to be themselves.\u201d\u00a0She notes that asking the right questions and listening to potential customers will be key to her success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you need? What do you want? What\u2019s going to help you?\u201d Renaud plans to ask others. \u201cIf you listen, you find out their stories and you find out what people are in need and desire of. That leads to them buying your product and that also leads to partnerships and fundraising. It can lead to so many things just by listening to one customer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Savannah Wheeler\u2019s vision for the future is a business plan that has two main goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I grow up I want to start my own publishing company and with the income from that, I want to help families that don\u2019t have a lot of money send their kids to college,\u201d Wheeler said. \u201cBecause a lot of people are smart and have a lot of potential, they just don\u2019t have the finances to help them get there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5495\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wheeler-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"wheeler\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wheeler-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wheeler-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wheeler-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wheeler-400x267.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wheeler.jpg 1843w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In fulfilling her dream, Wheeler hopes to help others reach their full potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love reading and writing, so I thought I could help people get their books published and help them achieve their dreams.
