They seemed right at home working at their table and putting their skills to use, almost as though they have been at school all morning.<\/p>\n<p>However, they hadn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5080\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Providence-6-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Providence 6\" width=\"584\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Providence-6-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Providence-6-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Providence-6-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Providence-6-450x300.jpg 450w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Providence-6.jpg 1556w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today was the school division\u2019s Kindergarten Registration Event. More than a thousand families took part in the day in order to get their child enrolled for the upcoming school year. While mom and dad were filling out the paperwork, the future kindergartners got to go on an adventure \u2013 taking tours of the school, visiting the library and some even got to take their first ride on the bus.<\/p>\n<p>At Providence Elementary, Jocelyn and her new friends got to visit a kindergarten classroom, where they could work and play for a little while. Yet, when thinking about her future as a kindergartner, Jocelyn shared she was excited about one thing in particular.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSnacks,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>It was a sentiment shared by many of the four and five year olds coming to the schools today.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5085\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/diamond-springs-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"diamond springs\" width=\"584\" height=\"876\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/diamond-springs-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/diamond-springs-200x300.jpg 200w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/diamond-springs-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/diamond-springs.jpg 1365w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Over at Diamond Springs Elementary School, Zyaire was most excited about \u201cthe cafeteria\u2026and cheese pizza.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His mother added, \u201cHe loves pizza.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zyaire\u2019s future classmate at Diamond Springs, Saniyah, pointed out that coming to school would mean seeing some of her favorite people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to see my friends,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a sentiment Saniyah\u2019s mom, Nicole Melvin, can hardly believe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew this day was going to come. I wasn\u2019t expecting it so soon,\u201d Melvin said. \u201cMy baby is growing up. She does really well with other kids. Everyone she sees is her friend. I think she\u2019ll do great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Luxford Kindergarten Teacher Robin Harrison, today\u2019s even is a great way to share the fun of school with up and coming kindergartners.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5081\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/bus-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"bus\" width=\"584\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/bus-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/bus-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/bus-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/bus-450x300.jpg 450w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/bus.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an introduction to the school and the community because we are building a relationship together and this is the first step,\u201d Harrison said. \u201cIt\u2019s really an exciting time for the students as well as the teachers. Every year is a new year. Their faces are so bright and enthusiastic. It\u2019s just the beginning of their journey. It\u2019s a fun time for the whole school and community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each of the division\u2019s 56 elementary schools (with the exception of Williams Elementary, which only has fourth- and fifth-graders) took part in the day\u2019s event. The big finale? They would usher them to the next stop of the tour, answer their questions and even help calm any anxieties about being away from mom or dad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved hanging out with the little ones,\u201d said Amy, a fifth-grade helper at Thoroughgood. \u201cThey are so cute and adorable. I actually felt like a teacher to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parents can still enroll their students for school at any time before the school year begins.
