{"id":4925,"date":"2016-03-15T08:08:11","date_gmt":"2016-03-15T12:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/?p=4925"},"modified":"2016-03-16T12:18:05","modified_gmt":"2016-03-16T16:18:05","slug":"vbcps-secondary-schools-earn-awards-at-great-computer-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/vbcps-secondary-schools-earn-awards-at-great-computer-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"VBCPS secondary schools earn awards at Great Computer Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Virginia Beach City Public Schools students participated in the 31<sup>st<\/sup> Annual Great Computer Challenge March 5 at Old Dominion University.\u00a0Secondary-level students competed in the senior division \u2014 grades 6-8 (Level III) and grades 9-12 (Level IV).\u00a0The junior competition, for grades K-5, will be held May 14.<\/p>\n<p>The Great Computer Challenge is\u00a0a joint project of WHRO, the Consortium for Interactive Instruction and Old Dominion University.\u00a0It is a competitive opportunity for students in kindergarten through 12th grade to demonstrate their knowledge of\u00a0various computer applications and programming skills.\u00a0 Categories\u00a0include: CAD, Desktop Presentations, Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design, Integrated Applications, Internet Scavenger Hunt, JAVA Programming, Music Composition, Scientific\/Non-Business Programming, Video Editing, Visual Programming and Web Design.
