The Virginia Beach Middle School Environmental Club is taking part in the project by helping to promote tidal wetland restoration by growing and planting black needlerush, a native plant that serves as &#8220;a buffer vegetation for shoreline erosion control.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Beach Middle\u00a0students\u00a0recently transfered several of the young black needlerush<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/environment_planting.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-377\" alt=\"environment_planting\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/environment_planting-300x225.jpg\" width=\"210\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/environment_planting-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/environment_planting-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/environment_planting.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a> plants from their pots and planted them in the Virginia Beach Middle School wetland and rain garden, an area that surrounds the school. Later this spring, additional plants will be planted at Lighthouse on the Cove which is home to the Virginia Beach Middle School oyster restoration site.
