Orange cones dotted the grounds of Ocean Lakes High School (OLHS) Saturday, May 9, marking the course for the school\u2019s 12th<\/sup> annual Dolphin Dash 5K run\/walk. All proceeds from the race were donated to the LivON Foundation, which promotes awareness of early detection of colon cancer for those 50 years of age and under.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_5191<\/a>Physician assistant Olivia Naples Bostic, wife of OLHS science teacher David Bostic,\u00a0was 38 years old when she died of colon cancer in 2014.\u00a0Following her diagnosis, Olivia established the foundation with David and her sister Lauren Taylor Jones because she wanted to continue to educate others, increase awareness of symptoms and support fellow patients with the diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Dolphin Dash raised more than $2,700, and David Bostic and Jones accepted the donation check on behalf of the LivON Foundation before the start of the race.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_5197<\/a>Also offering their community support for the race were Tidewater Striders, Jostens, Inlet Fitness, The Point 94.9 FM,\u00a0Lynnhaven Screenprinting, Hampton Roads Sanitation District, as well as the OLHS PTSA and boys varsity and junior varsity soccer teams.\u00a0Partners in Education, Chick-fil-A and sweetFrog, joined OLHS mascot,\u00a0Spirit the Dolphin, to kick off the start and cheer on participants.<\/p>\n
